In his collaborations with directors like the Coen brothers (Inside Llewyn Davis) and Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amélie), cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel ASC AFC has developed his signature soft-lit style. He shares how he helps bring a filmmaker’s vision to the big screen, working with the production and costume designers to do so.
The team delivered 115 shots, pushing our creative and technical boundaries as we worked closely with Amazon MGM Studios to seamlessly mesh live-action footage with the bioluminescent CG setting. From balancing scale and building the gigantic mycelium forest to the delicately lit particulates floating across the ocean floor, each beautifully crafted asset adds to the…
