The Berlinale Summer Special was a fantastic new beginning for cinema. 126 films were shown in 193 screenings at 16 cinemas with 60,410 tickets sold. More than 330 film team guests travelled to Berlin to present their films and engage in dialogue with the audience, despite the challenges of the pandemic.

At the half-time point of the 71st Berlinale, it’s time to look back on the past six days of outdoor cinema magic. They welcomed film teams, handed out awards, eaten popcorn, laughed, cried, been bitten by mosquitoes, and most importantly: finally come together in front of the big screen again.
